Police Pickings.

Saturday night business in police circles was unusually lively, and the patrol wagon was kept on the hop most of the night.

John Cheek, a notorious resident of the "Hill," for being disorderly, by officers Nicklas and Warden and the patrol wagon.

The patrol wagon was called last evening about 8 o'clock to Main and Factory streets, where Officers Condron and Woods had in their custody an abusive and drunken man who would not give his name, and was registered on the slate as Bull Head.

John Mason was patrolled from off of Cherry street to the station house, being arrested by Officers Nicklas and Ward for loitering around a house of ill-fame.

Wm. Donnelly, whose name is well known in the police dockets, was run in by Officer Record for being disorderly.

Ed. Smith, colored, was arrested on Fair street for loitering around a house of ill-fame, and was given a ride to the station house.

Ed. Bowan, the drayman, got too much bad whiskey on board, went home, abused his family and drove them from the house. He was put under arrest by Marshal Hughes and was patrolled to the station house.

Sunday morning about one o'clock, Officers Woods, Caldwell, and Inspector Boyd made a raid on a house of ill-repute on West Main street, over Rust's coal office capturing Fannie Waddle, Mary Maher, who were charged of keeping a house of the above character, and also A. Forgy and Joe Hooper who were enjoying themselves hugely when the officers broke up the little picnic. They were all taken to the station house and locked up.

Harvey Welsh a noted little tough and a son of Michael Welsh was run in this morning about 2 o'clock for fighting on the "Hill."

He was patrolled to the station house.

Saturday night about 11 o'clock Nicklas and Ward found the saloon of Mrs. McGuire opened and doing good business. They then found her opened again about 12:20, and put her under arrest, she gave sufficient sum of money for her appearance at trial to-day.
