Ex-Paratrooper Jumps 30 Feet In His Sleep

PORT CHESTER, N. Y. (P)-- Tom Thomas, 36, a discharged paratrooper, dreamed that his jumpmaster gave the command to "jump!" Asleep, he jumped from his second-floor bedroom window, plunging 30 feet into a narrow closed alleyway.

Unhurt, but clad only in summer pajamas, Thomas yelled into the near-zero night until his landlady threw down some blankets, pending his rescue.

Firemen worked 4 minutes to get him out. Then, over a cup of steaming coffee, the ex-soldier said:

"I could swear I heard the sergeant yell 'jump'."
