TO CLAIM WIFE AGAIN
Man Who Was Confined in Russian
Prison Wins Release and Wife
Will Dispose of New Husband.
(By United Press)
Sheboygan, Wis.-The old tale of
"Enoch Arden" who returned to his
home after a long trip, thought dead
by his friends and relatives, to find
his wife married to another man has
come true here. But unlike Enoch
Arden's wife, Mrs. Julia Richter has
already started legal proceedings so
that she may return to her first hus-
band. In 1914 her husband left for
Russia to claim some property, expect-
ing to return at the end of a year.
When Mrs. Richter, mother of four
children, had heard no word from him
eight years later she gave him up for
dead and married David Schentler in
December, 1922.
Recently a letter came to tell Mrs.
Schentler that her first husband, Fred
Richter, had just been released from a
Russian prison and was returning to
the United States as soon as possible.
True to the husband of her youth, she
went to Schentler who offered to re-
lease her. Judge Kirwan cleared the
record for them and Schentler has left
Sheboygan. Mrs. Richter is eagerly
awaiting the return of her first hus-
band.
