Full Text

A letter from Hamburgh, dated April 4, informs us that a person, named Mutterbach, a clerk in an office in that city, aged about 20 years, lately fell into a profound sleep, and that the Gentlemen of the Faculty there had caused him to be bled several times in the arms, and used every other method they could devise to awake him, but without success: but that, after sleeping for thirty two days, he awaked, of himself, the 11th of March. On examination, his health was found to be no way impaired; it was thought proper, however, not to suffer him to go out, nor to take what quantity of nourishment he chose, as he was troubled with an insatiable hunger. A like accident happened to him some years since, but his sleep then lasted only three days.
