SEELEY

SEELEY, July 12.-Mr. and Mrs. Andrews and daughter left for the coast Wednesday evening. They expect to be gone two months.

Delmar Upshaw and family have just returned from a fishing trip at Lake Hodges. They also spent a few days in Escondido.

Rev. Berry and family have left for Long Beach to spend the summer. They will return September 1. The library is being taken care of by Mrs. Peatley during Rev. Borry's absence.

Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Copeland and family, also Miss Mary Copeland from San Diego, spent the day in Seeley on their way to Tennessee. They are making the trip by auto and will spend a month visiting relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kunkler, from Ramona, visited in Seeley recently. They also visited Walter Downey at the county hospital who is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Kunkler's.

Mr and Mrs. M. I Curtis Waye left for Los Angeles and expect to get their son Howard Curtis and wife and all visit several coast states, including their old home.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom White went to Orange to attend the funeral Tuesday of Oscar Webster. Mr. Webster was well known in this section having lived here several years and had many friends. His death was caused by a truck which he cranked while in gear, pinning him against another truck.

Allora Gallaher has returned to Los Angeles to attend summer school.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Higgins entertained at dinner Sunday evening, having as guests Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Murphy.

The Seeley Sunday school and Christian Endeavor, have closed for the summer.

Miss Edith Davis visited with Miss Alice Smith of Heber recently.

Lonnie Murphy is working in the grapes at Meloland.

Mrs. Walter Vogel and two children and Sam Smith and family are visiting their father, T. R. Smith and sister, Mrs. Marcus McGee.

Mrs. Jack Kennedy and daughter, Miss Nina Kennedy, have returned from Live Oaks for a week with the family here.

True Sheldon has returned home after a week spent with relatives in Ramona.

Ed Diehl and wife left this week for Los Angeles, on a two weeks' vacation.

Mrs. Joe Oftelie accompanied by her daughter Mrs. Dudley Stuart and husband, motored to Beaumont recently and after a few days' visit, Mrs. Oftelie and Mr. Stuart returned, leaving Mrs. Stuart in Beaumont to regain her health. She has been under the doctors care for the last three months.

Merced county has 24 test plots to determine the adaptability of three cover crops: Dolichos, Mung and Mat bean.

San Bernardino has raised by subscription more than $100,000 for a Sisters-of Charity hospital.
