Miss Florence Hickox closed her very successful term of school on Good Hill, Roxbury, June 29, with appropriate exercises consisting of recitations, readings, etc. She presented each scholar with a useful gift. Miss Hickox is one who wins the affection of her pupils and left many friends to regret her leaving. She returned to her home in Washington, the 30th, where she will be welcomed by many who have missed her in her absence.
It is rumored that a demonstration is being made towards raising funds to build a park on the road a few rods north of the Center and overlooking the same. As that road has become a favorite driving place, they think it ought to be made more attractive and have more room for their promenades.
Jay Tyrrell is building an addition to his fine barn that is an admiration of all passers.
J. G. Gorham and wife have been spending a short time with Mrs Gorham's sister, Mrs Bruce Ward.
Misses Eunice and Katie Warner are re-covering their hay barn.
Mrs Henry Bolles from New Preston is visiting her niece, Mrs Bruce Hodge; also her sister, Mrs Phebe Castle.
The annual school meeting was held at the Warner's Mills' district school house on the evening of June 30. Frederick Tyriell was elected committee for the ensuing school year.
