Full Text

A friend writing to us from Shenandoah, regrets that we did not notice the proceedings of the Whig meeting, of that county, in Woodstock. We have never received the account referred to, nor have we seen one published in any other paper, though doubtless it has appeared, and we have overlooked it. It would have given us pleasure to have published the proceedings, aware, as we were, that a Whig meeting had been held by the undaunted republicans of Shenandoah, who in the midst of the political darkness with which they are surrounded, serve to make that darkness more visible by the contrast which they present. Honor to the Whigs of Shenandoah for their moral courage, their independence, and their resolution to support the cause of liberty! They have little to cheer them on but a sense of the justness of their cause, and the satisfaction that it gives to do their duty! We understand that the respectable and intelligent gentlemen appointed as Delegates to the Convention at Staunton, will attend the Convention, and faithfully represent the views and wishes of the Whigs of Shenandoah.
