The Boynham-Wheeler Case,
Justice Bishop's court was crowded Monday with parties interested in the Boynham-Wheeler trial. It will be remembered that some time ago Wheeler shot-accidentally or otherwise-George W. Boynham. It was a close call, the man Boynham having his stomach torn open in a ghastly shape. He has recovered, however, and is now able to be out on the streets again, and will probably have no serious inconvenience from the accident. County Attorney Moore conducted the prosecution, while Harvey Wheeler acted as his own attorney in the case. After dinner neither side having need of any more witnesses, Harvey asked permission to speak, which was granted. He made a good talk, claiming that he had proven from the prosecuting witness himself that they had never had any trouble between them. He asked that his former actions should not influence the decision, and all he wanted was justice. He thought the prosecution was a malicious one on the part of some of his own people. After a short talk from Mr. Moore, Justice Bishop stated that the evidence was such as to warrant him binding the defendant over to the district court in the sum of $200, where the matter could be fully ventilated. In default of bail, Wheeler was placed in jail to await his trial.
