A cow browsing on the pebbles between the rails of the Nogales branch of the Southern Pacific caused a wreck of the "Burro" yesterday morning near Calabasas. The "Burro" was running 30 miles an hour when it struck the cow. "Pinky" Armstrong, who was the engineer, stuck gamely to his post, although the engine was derailed and bumped along on the ties for a considerable distance. The tender, mail and baggage cars and one passenger coach also left the rails. The Guaymas sleeper, the private car of Col. W. C. Greene, and the private car of Superintendent J. A. Naugle, of the Sonora road, remained on the track. Col. Greene was not on the train. Although the passengers in the day coach were somewhat jarred, none of them were injured, and when they recovered from their fright they even joked about the derailment Wrecking crews from Nogales and Benson were sent out to put the engine and cars back on the track.
