TRANSFUSION OF BLOOD IN CONSUMPTION.—Mr. Jacob Reitz, a well-known citizen of the west side, who is suffering in the last stages of consumption, was operated upon last Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, by Drs. Hatheway and Campfield, assisted by Dr. Cole, of Ottawa, and Dr. George E. Vance, of Hardin, and thirty-two drachms, or four ounces, of blood was taken from the arm of Mr. George Weidknecht, and successfully passed into the veins of Mr. Reitz, causing the following results: Before operation temperature of body one hundred degs., pulse one hundred and thirty-six, small and wiry. At the expiration of half an hour pulse one hundred and twenty. At the end of one hour, the operation having been completed, pulse one hundred. At eight o'clock, P. M., pulse one hundred full, and easily compressed. At noon next day (May 27th) pulse 91, temperature 98½; at 10 o'clock May 28th pulse 88, temperature 98.
