ALABAMA.
The Legislature of this State met at Tuscaloosa, on Monday, the 3d inst. The Hon. Jas. M. Calhoun, of Dallas county, was elected President of the Senate, and James W. McClung, of Madison, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The joint Select Committee of the Legislature of this State, appointed to examine the State funds, and the books, papers, &c. of the late Auditor, have made a long report, occupying nearly two pages of the Mississippian, in which they make the Auditor, John H. Mallory, Esq. a defaulter to the State in the enormous sum $54,079 96. We believe Mr. M. is a b. Treasurer
