Permits Boosted
Residential construction—five new homes worth this week started what Imperial Valley builders predicted would develop into a widespread home building campaign, according to statistics released Saturday by the city engineer's office.
The five new homes boosted the building permit total $18,750 during the past week and raised the seasonal total to $72,968. The sudden spurt in homebuilding during the past week still left the 1941 total far behind the mark on the same date one year ago, however.
Four of the houses were contracted by A. A. Kaiser in Residence park. The El Centro builder will erect new homes at 1057 Holt, 1040 Hamilton, 1229 Hamilton and 1239 Heil. All will be built to sell.
The fifth home will be constructed at 748 Hamilton, a $4800 residence for Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wise. Merl Kellogg is the builder.
