Lionel Hampton on Southern Tour

NEW YORK (Global)- Word comes from the Associated Booking Corp., headed by Joe Glaser, that Lionel Hampton is doing a sensational business on his annual southern tour with his 26 musicians and entertainers.

He started his tour Jan. 23 at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D. C., going through Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama. Sensational crowds have formed in line to greet this modern exponent of jazz.

On Feb. 20, Hampton opened at Tampa, Fla., and from there they go to West Palm Beach and Miami, then to Orlando and on to Gainesville, Port St. Joe and then to Jacksonville. The group goes into Alabama and Louisiana and ends its tour in Dallas, Tex., on March 12.

This is said to be one of the longest one-nighter tours any band has ever taken.
