PROFESSOR JAMES M. GREGORY.
As a Delegate to the Chicago Convention From the District of Columbia.
We notice with much pleasure the popularity of Professor James M. Gregory in the District of Columbia, and wish to say to Brother Chase, of the Bee, that although we are a long way off and have no voice in your political matters we suggest Professor Gregory as the man, who, as a delegate to the Chicago convention from your district, would "represent principles," would look out for the interest of the people of your city, could not be approached by any person wishing to buy votes, and one whom you know is not a dumb statue. He is a strong advocate of suffrage for the people of the District of Columbia, his home, and where, if any place, every man should be a full-fledged citizen. He is without a doubt an exemplary representative of the brains of "the young blood" of your district. From the Forest City, Professor Gregory's former home, comes a nomination which may not be in order but which we are positive will find many staunch supporters in the District of Columbia who will be only too glad to see that he is nominated in due time and to show their appreciation of his peculiar fitness for the honor by giving him their undivided support.
