Full Text

The Louisville Morning Post indulges the anticipation of an Asiatic trade thro' the Missouri and the Columbia—and predicts "that the present generation will yet witness the teas of Canton, conveyed to us by the way of the Rocky Mountains"—Look at what N. York has accomplished. The revenue for the navigation of the Erie Canal, imperfect as it is, already amounts to 250,000 dol.—add to this the sum of 60,000 dol. collected during this season, for the Northern Canal, and it will amount to 310,000 dol. One great section of the Erie Canal is not yet finished. In two years more, it is calculated that the revenue of the canal may be from 600 to 700,000 dol.; in ten years, a million! Who can say "Thus far, and no farther."
