During the debate, according to Daily News, the acting governor "read a cable from the St. Croix Council endorsing Cramer and assured the members that influential citizens had also sent cables endorsing the Lieutenant Governor for the Governorship. He added that those cables were not for their own personal, selfish probable gains."
