BANK OF THE UNITED STATES.

Extreme solicitude appears to prevail in the commercial cities for an early decision by congress on the subject of the renewal of the charter of the Bank of the United States. A very early attention to this subject is indeed recommended by every consideration of policy and justice, and would meet the wishes as well of the friends as of the enemies of the institution.

For the information of those who are interested, we think it proper to state that the committee of seventeen, to whom the petition of the president and directors of the Bank of the United States was referred, in the house of representatives, have already met twice on the subject, and it is expected will come to a decision at a proposed meeting this day.

If so, the committee will probably report on Monday.
