Extract of a Letter from St. Eustatia, dated April 10, 1777:

"Great numbers of Vessels continue to be carried into Antigua, Dominica, St. Kitts, by Vessels of 4, 6, 10 or 12 Guns, mostly small Craft, and they cruise without any Commission. Several Transports have passed this for America from St. Kitts, &c. in two Divisions, the first about 17 Sail, no Soldiers; the second about 9 Sail, 400 Troops, a Convoy nearly clear of the Island: these Ships are mostly armed, and have 16 Guns and 40 or 50 Men, and it is said, and from that to 20 and 24 Guns: four ships of war have since sailed Jerseyrries, the Perseus, Beaver and Rainbow."
