Full Text

Serious Accident.—On Tuesday of last week, as Messrs. J. Yeager and W. Paul were attaching a grindstone to some of the machinery in Yeager's saw mill, in Derry township, George W. Ulsh, a young lad about 10 years of age, had his arm broken in the following manner. It appears that the boy was standing close by looking on, and so near the stone, that the shaft of it caught in his coat tail. He endeavored to unloosen it with one of his hands, but while in the act of doing so, the shaft also became entangled in his coat sleeve, and before any assistance could be rendered, forced his arm around the shaft, breaking it immediately above the wrist. This should serve as a fearful and timely warning to young persons, and even those more advanced in years, not to venture too near to machinery, as they know not at what moment some of their clothing may accidentally come in contact with it, and if so, a bruised body or broken limbs, if not instant death, will be the direful consequences of their carelessness, as in the case of this little boy.
