THE GAMBLING PROBLEM.

Our city is going through an old experience, the suppression of gambling. The result will be beneficial, but not absolutely a success; it may result in retiring the evil from public view and breaking up the ground floor, electric-light saloons, where the day laborers and working classes are robbed of their week's earnings.

Gambling is a natural vice, and its entire suppression has not yet been accomplished in large metropolitan cities. No doubt our sporting fraternity will find a method to prosecute their profession. There is nothing to prevent clubs from being incorporated and run upon the most approved plans. Club rooms can be multiplied to meet the wants of every class of people, and we warn the enthusiastic reformers that there are many ways of whipping the devil around the stump. The grand jury will adjourn and San Antonio will open up as lively as ever.
