John Henry Lewis, Phoenix, Arizona light heavyweight, won as he pleased over Norman Conrad of New Hampshire here last Wednesday night. Lewis was not pushed and Conrad only showed the ability to absorb unlimited punishment. Lewis weighed 181 pounds while his opponent tipped the scales at nine pounds less.
Lewis returned to the ring after a short vacation Labor Day in Reno, Nevada, and administered a one round thrashing to Tony Poloni. The latter could not answer the bell at the beginning of the second round and later examination showed that one of his ribs had been broken in a flurry of fists to his midriff by Lewis, two-time winner over Maxie Rosenbloom.
