The Republican Central Committee of Waupaca recently considered that a convention be held on the 4th to Rep candidates for the ensuing county tickets including one County Assessor. An Act in the Legislature, approved March 14, 1864, provides that Assessors shall be elected at the general election in eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and every four years thereafter, in each MS county in this state, who shall hold their offices for four years. The question of this Act in question applied John Jessup of Allg areas, held in Ellis, S She hast Lloyd Sn January, 1867, 91 two years short than the time to which they were elected. The Supreme Court of Nevada decided the reading section Justices has no power to extend the term of any officer beyond the time for which said officer was elected by the people; but the Act nullos, which provides for the election of Assessors for a term of four years was not passed until by the session house, around unrepealed and is still in full force. Assessors were elected at the fall election in 1860 for a term of four years.
