(Our Emphasis)

Sound counsel given to a man
in deep distress was, "Acquaint
now thyself with him (God).
and be at peace: thereby good
shall come unto
thee" (Job
22:21). Better
acquaintance
with God, a spiritual under-
standing of Him as the one and
only Mind, banishes worry and
anxiety from human experience
and opens the door to health,
harmony, and true satisfaction.

The Psalmist urged (Psalm
55:22), "Cast thy burden upon
the Lord, and he shall sustain
thee." When we understand
God we see why we can cast
our
burdens upon Him and
find ourselves sustained. Christian
Science reveals God as the
divine Principle of all being
and doing, as one Mind, which
is responsible not only for the
creation of man and the uni-
verse but also for their main-
tenance. Omnipresent, omni-
potent, and omnipotent Mind
continuously cares for its ideas,
which coexist with it. Jesus
frequently referred to this divine
intelligence as Father, and
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer
and Founder of Christian
Science, received the revelation
of God as Mother. It is natural to meekly trust the
perpetual loving care of Him
who is the Father and Mother
of all and the universe.

In Christian Science we learn
how to trust this Father-Mother
God and to expect, as His dear
children, to receive His con-
stant guidance and protection.
and the supply of all that is
needed for our well-being and
right doing. The right doing is
important, because God does
not take our place or do our
work for us. But because man
is divinely supplied and main-
tained we can do our work
perfectly without feeling lonely
or over-worked, or being sub-
ject to fatigue, or held up for
lack of supplies.

Throughout the Bible we find
repeated evidence that mighty
works
can
be accomplished
with ease where meekness is
accompanied by spiritual un-
derstanding of God. To every
Christian Scientist, Jesus is of
course the unparalleled exam-
ple. He gave us a valuable clue
