OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

Now, that the elections are over—the battle fought and won—let us all, like true Americans, conspire together to advance the interests of the COUNTRY.

If we have been compelled to deal heavy blows on the heads of the foes of the President, we did so from a sense of duty, not revenge, and we harbor no enmity for our enemies when they are powerless. We invite a cessation of hostilities all round.

The country is now satisfied that its Chief Magistrate is a true Republican of the Jeffersonian school—that his measures are Republican—and that he will ever adhere to the integrity of his principles. "Union of all for the sake of the Union," is the sentiment that throbs in our breast.
