From the Federal Gazette.
"Fight England, & trade to France" !
In a piece copied from the Aurora, in Saturday's Whig, Duane, after abusing our government for incurring the displeasure of his king Napoleon, by not declaring war against England, goes on to state (what he terms reasons) why the U. States should seek to be on good terms with France.-- One of his reasons, though not the most absurd, is that on the score of interest, it would be a grand object, seeing that France has it in her power to open to us all the commercial ports on the continent of Europe. Now, I would be obliged to this man of reason, to inform us, how, if at war with England, it would be possible for us to profit by his king's opening all the ports of Europe to us. when we are reduced to such a pitiful situation by the wretched terrapin policy, which he has been advocating these 12 years past; that with 15 or 20 sloops of war England could shut us up in our own ports from one end of the continent to the other.
