New-Braintree, Nov. 7, 1790.

This morning was found, in the mowing ground of Mr. John Barr, of this town, by one of his sons, the body of a man, supposed to be between 40 and 50 years of age, his feet, legs, thighs, and a part of his bowels were devoured by dogs; his head, neck, arms, and the trunk of the body were intire; his head bald, hair greyish, foreteeth sound and good: had on a blue sailor's jacket, coarse tow shirt, and striped woolen overalls, an old felt hat, and a pair of old shoes lined with tow cloth. and one plated shoe buckle, were found near him.--There was an unknown man at Mr. Barr's the 27th of September last, thought to be delirious, said he came from Boston, &c. and set out to go across his lots, night coming on, and it being dark and rainy, he wandered in the low land, till he came to a piece of ground, where the water then stood about knee deep, where he perished.--A Jury of Inquest was immediately summoned, who examined the body, the land and some evidences, and obtained what light they could, and brot' in their verdict, " That he came to his Death by misfortune, (i. e.) by drowning"
