The Gold Medal Contest held at the Baptist church last night was largely attended. The church was crowded to its full capacity.
Master Morton McKean, of Kiowa aged 12 years won first prize The Gold Medal. Miss Ilo Aldrich of this city won second prize-The Life of Frances E. Willard.
There were seven contestants, as follows: Ida Bullington, Florence Colborn, Edna Durfee, Ilo Aldrich, Morton McKean, Olive Chilcott, and Will Rosell.
All made splendid orations and there was little room for choice among them.
The judges were Prof. A. B. Hornold R. B. Hammond and Rev W. J. Weber.
Master Morton McKean, the winner of the Medal, is certainly a bright boy and will make a mark in life. He is a good orator even at his age. Miss Edna Durfee and in fact all the others did splendidly but all could not win prizes and the judges followed their best judgment without regard to favoritism. We congratulate those who had this event in hand on their great success.
