Up to the fiftieth graduation exercises of the Palmer Memorial Institute. June 1 will mark anniversary of Palmer, the only Negro school of its kind in America. SEDALIA, N. C.-(SNS)- June 1, 1951 will mark the fiftieth year of graduation, since founded in 1901 by Dr. Charlotte H. Brown, its present president. Forty-seven seniors from almost as many states, who for the past years have dedicated their lives to a cause which was based on the Palmer way of life will soon proudly but sadly write finis to their high school career. This class probably is not the greatest of all times and does not hold claim to being the most honorable of all time, but this class is the same one that saw the walls of Palmer's largest structure go up in smoke last year. That fire made history and so did the class of '51, for these 47 strong hearts were not disunited for they grew stronger and achieved concrete integrity to make a lasting impression on the Palmer standards of life. Some seniors journeying from as far as Monrovia, Liberia and Bermuda to reach the Exeter and Groton of Negro education will hate to part from the sacred portals of this great institute. Examinations
