VIENNA, October 24.

Every daily occurrence seems to prove that the Emperor persists in the design of making war against the Turk, and we are assured that proofs of it will soon appear. Mr. Deuces, General of Sclavonia, a man of great merit and capacity in his profession, has proposed to the Emperor to make himself master of Bosnia, promising, if his Majesty would consent to it, to conquer it before the end of November: we know not yet how the Emperor approves of this project; but we learn that the army on the frontiers of Turkey has made some motions, which seems as if they were going to put it in execution. But on this subject opinions differ; for others pretend, that if any stroke is made this winter it will be the attack of Belgrade. In the interim, all the Generals chosen to command the army in Hungary last Sunday received orders from the Council of War to repair within six days time to their respective posts: they are already all gone except two, who will set off next Monday. This order is said to be occasioned by the dispatches received by the Court last Saturday from Constantinople. Those who are to compose the campaign chancellery of this army are likewise all named, and they have established a daily post for communication. The troops which compose this army are augmented by the arrival of fresh corps. The fine regiment of cavalry of General Hoffitz and three battalions of infantry have lately received orders to prepare to join them. The arrival of the courier from Constantinople, whom we have before mentioned, has given rise to the following report: that the Porte, notwithstanding the effects which may result from it, is resolved not to confine the Internuncio of this Court in the castle of the Seven Towers; in consequence of which that Minister had quitted that place to come here.

Oct. 28. All the Generals having set off from hence to join the army at Peterwardein, they only wait for his Majesty, who will set out in the course of next week, when the troops will march in ten different columns towards Belgrade. If the season permit, the corps of pioneers will at the same time go down the Danube, and throw a bridge over that river opposite Parowa, and another at Semlin, over the Save, as a passage for the army destined to besiege Belgrade. We are informed for certain, that that fortress, formerly so famous, is now in a very ruinous condition, and in want of the principal things to hold out a siege; so we hope the good weather will continue, that we may see the Austrian flag flying from the ramparts of Belgrade. Good use should be made of the present time, as the general circumstances of Europe were never so favorable for the House of Austria to conquer the Turks as now.
