Railroad Lands.
The Elko Independent of Friday says: "According to notices served upon applicants for the purchase of Railroad lands in this section of the county, to-day was the time appointed for a conference at this place, with the Land Agent of the Company. Quite a number of applicants from this vicinity and Clover Valley assembled at the hotel at the stated hour this morning, and were met by B. B. Redding, the Company's agent, who arrived from San Francisco by the train last evening. Most of the bottom lands along the line of the road belonging to the Company, for a distance of eight miles above and below town were disposed of at figures ranging from $2.50 to $3.50 per acre. The average rating of the company's lands in Clover Valley was considerably higher. Mr. Redding remains in town to-morrow, and will transact further business with applicants for railroad lands."
