"A subscription is opened in this town for the purpose of raising a sum of money to be employed in building a Galley, or Gun-boat, to be offered to the President for the use of the United States, should he think proper to employ an additional force of this kind on the Mississippi.

The subscription is now in great forwardness, 1600 dollars have been subscribed in two days, I have no doubt but it will be filled in a short time. The Governor has been requested to announce the intention of the Citizens to the President."
