Slaying Conviction
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (UPI) - The father of one of nine Negroes who integrated Central High School in September, 1957, Thursday appealed his five-year prison sentence on a homicide charge.
Willie Bob Brown, 56, asked the Arkansas Supreme Court to order a new trial on a charge he shot another Negro, Elmer Isaacs, 68, about a year ago.
The appeal listed 22 reasons for the request.
At the start of Brown's trial in Pulaski Circuit Court, his attorneys asked for a change of venue which was turned down. They contended Brown could not get a fair trial because of Little Rock paper pointed out the day before he was the father of Minnijean Brown, one of those who integrated Central High.
The girl was expelled from Central after a series of incidents in the 1957-58 school year. She finished the term at a New York integrated school.
