SCEF Seeks More Demonstration Aid

The board of the Southern Conference Educational Fund, meeting Saturday at United Liberal Church, called upon white Southerners to give more help to sit-in demonstrators throughout the region.

Full support was pledged to the resistance movement in a resolution adopted by SCEF, a Southwide interracial organization working to end segregation and discrimination.

The group demanded "an end to the use of the court and police machinery for stifling the movement toward freedom." It added that communities "degrade themselves and make themselves look ridiculous by jailing and assaulting demonstrators."
