Commenting upon the President's veto the Chicago Inter-Ocean says: With the small majority in the Senate for the bill, there is little reason to hope that it can be passed notwithstanding the veto; but we hope the friends of free banking in the Senate will now take up the House bill, amend it judiciously, and that the House will send that to the President, with their compliments, and give New York and New England another opportunity to show whether they are potential above all the rest of the country at the Executive Mansion.
