Brotherly Fight. Two brothers, shoemakers, living in Philadelphia, had a quarrel the other day, which ended in a fight. They fastened the door inside, and fell at each other with knives. Alarmed by the noise, the citizens sent for the police, who, after in vain attempting to effect an entrance at the door, got upon the roof of the house, a two-story frame, and entered at the garret window, descending the stairs, and finally succeeded, after presenting pistols at the savages, in capturing them. They were covered with blood and wounds, and one especially had a gash the whole length of his face.

They were taken to the office of Alderman Badger, all bloody as they were, without shoes, coats or hats. Upon hearing, the barbarians were each held to bail in the sum of $700, and in default were committed to Moyamensing. The Ledger significantly concludes its account of the transaction with the query, "Need we say that the exciting cause of all this was rum?"
