PILGRIM BAPTIST

"A Father's Faith" was the subject of Rev. Massey's sermon on Fathers and Children's Day, Sunday, June 20. Following the Processional, Invocation was said by young Bert Bosley. Raymond Graham read the scripture lesson. The organ call to prayer was played by organist Sidney Williams. Morning prayer was offered by Ronald Smith. Following the children's story by Rev. Massey, the baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Phelps was dedicated. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Riley were named as godparents. Mrs. Riley was unable to be present and Mrs. John Banks, Sr., Cradle Roll Superintendent stood up with the group.

Flowers on the pulpit were from the funeral of the late Earl Howard, father of Mrs. Juanita Camp and Harold Howard, both of whom were extended condolence. Among registered visitors introduced by Mrs. Marjorie Tendle were: Mrs. Edna Curtis and Mavetta Mae Lewis, St. Paul: the Misses Royene Rogers and Daphne Rogers, Selma, Ala.: Miss Bernice Adams, St. Paul: Mr. and Mrs. R. C. H. Royzell, and sons, Gastonia, N. C.: George Davis and Simon Johnson, Topeka, Kans.: Mrs. Fannie Bond, St. Louis, Mo.: Miss Vivian Gunnel, St. Paul: Mrs. Ester Pierson, Chicago, Ill.: Major and Mrs. Homer Starks, Fort Snelling: and Mrs. Jane Mellon, Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Katie Pinkston, Atlanta, Ga. and Mrs. Laura B. Wright, Selma, Ala.

It was noted that Robert Elliott is still a patient at the Veterans Hospital: Deaconess Alice Jackson is confined to Ancker: Miss Daisy Johnson is at Riverview Hospital and Deacon N. N. Smith is confined to his home because of illness.

Condolence was expressed to Deaconess Cordelia Hunter whose sister, Mrs. Columbus Moore, died in Chicago.

Howard Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Payton Hunt, who is in the city on furlough, was welcomed. It was announced that men are permitted to worship in shirt sleeves during the summer months. Parents were asked to register their children for the Daily Vacation Church School which started on June 21.

Dedicatory Prayer was offered by John Dorsey, Jr.

On Sunday, June 27, the Rev. Kneely Williams will speak at the Morning Worship Hour. At 7 p.m. the Masonic St. John's Day Service will be held and the speaker will be the Rev. J. W. Junnell.
