Woman Shot By Husband Now Off Critical List Husband Out On $1000 Bail

Louise Simmons, who was shot by her husband, Louis, last week Friday was taken off the critical list at the hospital on Thursday.

She is now walking around the hospital, but the bullet which severed the major vessel of her right leg has put her in danger of losing the leg, and even if she wins that battle, she is expected to be incapacitated for a long time.

Dr. Peter Sabatelle, who makes periodic visits here from Puerto Rico, has been asked to assist in the case.

Simmons, who was permitted to visit his wife while lodged in jail on a charge of assault with intent to kill, was released on bail of $1000 yesterday, furnished by Louis Lindqvist and Osias Parrott.

Bail, which was originally set at $1,000 was later raised to $1800, but dropped again to $1000.
