IMPORTANT FROM CONGRESS.
Mr. Macon's Bill Passed.
On Monday, 29th of January, Mr. Macon's bill was again brought forward in the House of Representatives, and FINALLY PASSED, by a majority of 21 votes. The correspondent of the New-York Evening Post has the following remarks on the passage of this bill:-
"At a late hour the question was taken by ayes and noes, and the bill passed—ayes 73, noes 52—And the House adjourned.
"Macon's bill has passed the House at last. The question now is, will it pass the Senate? It is my opinion that it will. I find, however, various opinions on the subject—Some think the Senate will tack a war provision on the bill but I think not: war measures are so unpopular that I believe they will be abandoned.
"Gardenier declared in the House this day, that the country could never prosper until we had a commercial treaty with Great-Britain. No one answered him on this subject.
"Mr. G. also observed, that he thought the bill a bad one—a very bad one; but he thought it better than the Non-Intercourse."
