Full Text
Dodging The Responsibility.
The S. F. Journal says that a large batch of swindling bills have been concocted by secessionists, that they intend lobbying through the legislature, that the odium properly attaching to such measures shall fall upon the Union party of the State. The Journal man thinks he's smart—he knows his party to be in overwhelming strength in the Legislature—he knows that a number of swindling bills are likely to be passed, and he commences thus early to charge democrats with their paternity, so that the abolition party will escape the responsibility. This won't do! The Journal and its party must bear the brunt of whatever rascality their party friends in the legislature commit.
