and exclaiming gayly, "There, I've done it!" ran out of the room.

What passed between us that long summer's morning is all a misty dream, but I think my strongest feeling was that of admiring gratitude toward Ianthe as I read her tear-blistered letter to Philip, explaining everything and humbly begging his forgiveness for her selfish passion. Dear child! what a beautiful bridesmaid she was, and how tearfully happy she seemed during all my wedding-day!

I think she has quite forgotten her childish passion, for she spends months with us in our city home, and treats Philip like a dear brother, while her little, blue-eyed namesake is, in her opinion, "the sweetest, cunningest baby in all Christendom!"

Then too, though a favorite belle having hosts of admirers, her cheeks always flush rosily at the mere mention of a certain rising young lawyer, who makes a frequent practice of spending his evenings here.
