The Cubans propose to celebrate the eighth anniversary of Cuban independence on October 10. Probably the recent receipt of eight cannon, two thousand rifles, three thousand swords, six hundred thousand cartridges, three tons of gunpowder and a quantity of army medical stores, by the insurgents, will add considerable zest to the proposed celebration. It is said that, even with the prospect of getting reinforcements to crush these rebels, stout old Valmaseda keeps several men-of-war in constant readiness in Havana harbor to receive him and his plunder in the event of a compulsory abandonment of the city to "Cuba libre."
