As a result of a wild drinking party at County Beach Saturday night, County Commissioner Joe Allen, chairman of the Beach Committee of the Monroe Commission, said that anyone caught drinking at the County Beach hereafter will be arrested.
Allen said the beach Sunday morning was littered with dozens of empty beer cans and bottles, and whiskey bottles. He said there was other litter as well.
Since the beach has not enough employees to clear up such messes, Allen said that the beach will be patrolled hereafter. City Police Department has agreed, according to Allen, to patrol the beach and to arrest anybody caught drinking there.
"I feel that the beach is a place where men, women and children can enjoy themselves," said Allen today. "The way that beach was left after Saturday's drinking bout was a shame. There is always someone who violates good taste."
