The New York News has the following serio-comic reference to the Chicago Convention, not yet permanently adjourned:
'We suggest to the Executive Committee of the National Democratic Convention the propriety of calling that body together, and giving it to adjourn sine die. The Convention by its own resolution, is gifted with a kind of quasi immortality, dependent upon the volition of its Executive Committee. The gentlemen of the Convention are naturally uneasy under this doom of eternal organization. After demolishing their platform, it is the refinement of cruelty to compel them to dwell forever amid its ruins. We hope that Mr. Belmont will disembody this troubled spirit, and bid it God speed across the political Styx.'
