Why are Chiropractors Being Arrested?
Chiropractors are willing and anxious to be examined but not by their competitors-- their sworn enemies.
The chiropractors of Ohio want the legislature to pass a bill to take them out from under the selfish control of their competitors and place them under the control of a board of chiropractic examiners whose duty it would be to pass upon the qualifications of chiropractors. Surely this is fair and reasonable. All the chiropractors want is a "square deal" and they are willing to go to jail in this battle against medical autocracy and its unfair methods.
The osteopaths of Ohio agreed to be examined by the medical men as did the homeopaths-and what was the outcome?
The homeopaths are gradually being eliminated from the state: even the homeopathic college at Ohio State University was exterminated but a few months ago by the medical trust.
The same thing happened to the homeopathic school at Ann Arbor.
And where are the osteopaths in Ohio today?
They are being exterminated very rapidly. In 1921 out of the many applicants for examination only EIGHT were successfully passed by the board and during the first eight months of 1922 only SIX osteopaths were granted licenses by this autocratic board in this great state of several million people.
Knowing the fate of the osteopaths and homeopaths can you blame the chiropractors for not walking into the "open trap" set for them by the medical trust?
Certainly not. No sane person would.
Thousands of cases in Ohio that have been given up as "hopeless" by the medical profession have regained their health through chiropractic adjustments
The medical men are constantly reminded by their former "hopeless" patients that they are WELL and that they regained their health through chiropractic.
Facing these facts, is it any wonder that the medics are persecuting chiropractors at the tax payers' expense?
If the medical men want to meet with success in this war of extermination being waged against the chiropractor let them follow the advice of their own great leader. Dr. J. F. Baldwin who says that the best way to exterminate the chiropractor is for the medical doctor to remove the beam from his own eye before attempting to remove the mote from the eyes of others.
Chiropractors who have been convicted in various parts of the state have accepted jail sentences in lieu of paying fines, not because they WANT to go to JAIL, but as a protest against one of the most unfair and un-American laws that was ever jammed through a legislature by medical interests.
Chiropractors have declared they will "rot in jail" before they will pay a fine because ALL SUCH FINES are not paid into the state treasury. but into the POCKETS of the MEDICAL BOARD.
Thus you see the medics will use such fines with which to arrest other chiropractors. You see the medics have arranged their law that chiropractors not only pay our own "funeral expenses" but dig our "own graves" as well.
Why are chiropractors denied a trial by jury?
The medical profession through the Ohio state medical board has launched its much heralded campaign of extermination against the chiropractors of Ohio. More than one hundred and twenty-five chiropractors have been arrested recently in various parts of the state. These chiropractors are being arrested, not on complaint of any private citizen but on warrants sworn to by PAID AGENTS of the medical board.
These agents are carried on the state pay roll and are traveling about Ohio on fat salaries and entirely at the expense of the tax payers. Already the campaign of the medical board to exterminate chiropractic from Ohio has cost the tax payers many thousands of dollars and the medics say the campaign is just "getting under way." In California, the medics spent a quarter of a million dollars of the tax-payers' money in an unsuccessful effort to exterminate chiropractic.
Will the same thing happen in Ohio?
Will the tax-payers stand for it?
Thus you see the chiropractors of Ohio are being prosecuted not by the people. but by the medical profession, Chiropractors are charged with practicing medicine without a license.
Under the laws, as jammed through the legislature by the medical trust, it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE for chiropractors to get a license, and now they are being arrested because they haven't got one. Is this fair?
The Talley bill as jammed through the legislature by the medical trust gives the medical board the exclusive power to examine chiropractors. Since the medical profession has branded chiropractic as a fake, by what process of reasoning can we chiropractors expect to get a "square deal" from a board that has already prejudged our case and declared us fakers?
Chiropractic has nothing in common with medicine. the science, as well as the. practice of chiropractic being something medics know little or nothing of. They insist that chiropractors take an examination from a board, composed of medical men and medical ideas.
The idea of a license as intended within the minds of our fore-fathers was to extend protection to the community at large against any nefarious business or dangerous people, and not as a wall behind which any individual or group of individuals might barricade themselves and their selfish interests to the extent of barring science or progress.
Chiropractic is making sick people well and as a result of such demonstrated efficiency has developed into medicine's strongest competitor. And because of this fact the idea of having chiropractors examined by medical men was advanced,
Why? For the purpose of examination or EXTERMINATION?
