Several Hundred Onion Growers and Representatives Expected Here for Meeting on January 23
The meeting of the onion growers of Webb, La Salle, Dimmit and Jim Hogg counties, which was set to convene in this city on Saturday, January 16 to consider matters concerning the shipping and marketing of this season's onion crop, has been postponed one week and will be held in this city on January 23 instead.
The postponement of the meeting date was made necessary on account of the fact that several prominent onion men, including Roy Capell, Joseph Hoskins and others will be absent from Laredo next week attending the annual convention of the Southern Fruit Growers Association in New Orleans and can not be here for the onion growers' meeting.
Therefore it was decided yesterday to postpone the proposed meeting one week from the date set and call it for this city on Saturday, January the 23rd.
It is expected that several hundred onion growers will be here to participate in the deliberations of the conference and to decide whether or not they will adopt the agreement carried out last year so successfully and to the benefit of the onion growers.
