Local Baptist Center To Get $60,000 Building

A new $60,000 building will soon house the New Hinds Baptist Negro Center, formerly known as the Children's Nook and located at 232 East Bell St. This new facility will be designed to provide activities and supervision as required by the State of Mississippi plus Christian training for children who attend. The project is sponsored jointly by the Hinds County Baptist association and the Home Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, through the Negro work department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. The Home Mission Board will furnish $25,000 of the fund for building.
The director of the center is Gertrude Hart. The building will house three kindergartens, two nurseries, kitchens, isolation room, club assembly and recreation room and an office.
The enrollment usually runs about 115 pupils during regular session, with about 325 in Vacation Bible school and 95 in the Christian Vacation Bible School.
