The Pensacola Gazette mentions the following horrible occurrence in that place, on the 20th ult: "A Mr. Whittaker, who has for some years been engaged here in business, after returning to his residence from a public assembly with his wife, cut her throat from ear to ear! and then made an unsuccessful attempt to destroy himself, by cutting his own throat! When the alarm was given, they were both found lying on the piazza, weltering in blood, the wife of course entirely dead, and Whittaker himself in a dangerous situation."
