Goodyear Farms
Celebrates 40th
Year In Arizona

A dinner was held at the Wigwam Inn for 250 guests Saturday evening on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the Goodyear Corporation in Arizona. Kenneth B. McMicken, Vice-President of Goodyear Farms, who has spent 39 years with the project, planned the evening as a "Thank You" to the people of the state for their interest and support.

Paul W. Litchfield, Chairman of the Board of Goodyear, and the man responsible for the beginning of the Farms, was present to greet old Arizona friends.

The Farms were started when America's supply of long staple cotton was cut off after World War I began. The need for cotton has since passed but the Farms have carried on under a diversified program of agriculture, and experimentation.

THESE FOUR GOODYEAR FARM employees with Paul W. Litchfield represent 200 years of service with the company. From left to right: Ed Myers, retired ranch foreman; John Padgett who made the first surveys of Goodyear property 40 years ago; Mr. Litchfield; Kenneth B. McMicken, Vice-President and General Manager Goodyear Farms; and A. A. Schupp, former Purchasing Agent. The picture was taken at a luncheon honoring Mr. Padgett upon the presentation of his 40-year pin, and the retirement of Padgett, Myers and Schupp. (Pictures courtesy Winafoot Clan)
