Milan, in Italy, Aug. 30. On the 6th of this Month was felt here, and in many other Towns, a Shock of an EARTHQUAKE, which being but light, was, for that Reason, not much regarded. But to Day the Affair requires more serious Attention; for we just now received the dismal News that the Shock was very violent, and has done great Damage in Sicily: and that two thirds of Syracuse (once a very famous and noble City: the Metropolis of Noto) one of the principal Towns in the Island, was destroyed, and near twenty five thousand of the Inhabitants swallowed up or buried under the Ruins of their Houses.
