Mr. Editor,—Your correspondent acknowledges himself at fault in wording Art. XXX of "Methodism in Charleston" so carelessly. He certainly did not intend to convey the insinuation deducible from it. He mentioned the causes of location in but one case because it was the only one with the particulars of which he was familiar. Since writing that article, I have been informed of several who entered the itinerancy from the City, whose names you will please allow me to mention here.
1797. Alexander McCain, located in 1806. He afterward connected himself with the Methodist Protestant Church. He is now living at Aiken, S. C., probably one of the oldest survivors of the early movements of Methodism in America.
1798. Hanover Dunham, located in 1808.
1800. Jeremiah Russel, located in 1806.
1855. Peter M. Ryburn, who joined the Georgia Conference, and now travels the Jeffersonville circuit. In mentioning the names of the preachers who died while laboring in Charleston the name of Henry T. Fitzgerald was unintentionally omitted. He was sent to labour in Charleston in the second year of his ministry, and in the midst of a laborious and useful life was called to his reward. He was a young man of fine promise, possessed of deep piety, and endowed naturally with many lovely qualities. He died in 1819.
